TURKEY 2011

Since I am spending two boring days at my Istanbul “headquarters” grading, working, and getting to and from the airport, I thought I would link you to the blog about my last trip to Turkey in 2011, for anyone interested in looking in.

As always, I had planned that trip around some UNESCO sites.  Highlights included the visits to the Black Sea city of Trabzon, the incredibly picturesque site of Pamukkale, the capital city of Ankara, and one of my personal favorites, the small Ottoman town of Safranbuli, or the remote monastery of Sumela, and not to forget the tucked away tiny village of Divrigi with its incredible mosque-hospital complex, or the prehistoric site of Hattusa which I visited when it was still covered in snow and which would have fit really well into this trip again, but I ran out of time…

I hope you enjoy some of those sites.

See you tomorrow in Konya.
